Velocity stack pt.2

 

Thank God for the collet chuck! With out it I would have never been able to get the cross slide close enough to the spindle as I needed to. This chuck by nature moves the work out about 3" past standard scroll type chucks. I made the "boring bar" insert holder today and finished up the rest of the stack. The inside was much more difficult to get a smooth finish on because the bar has flex by nature and causes chatter, so I braced it up some with my hand and got a decent finish. Ill take the small inconsistencies out with some emery tomorrow.

Got Garys stack pretty much finished today, really stoked on how it turned out. Messed around with the knurl, wanted to make it super shallow but really crisp. I need to take care of the inner diameter tomorrow. Makes a good beer holder for after work too.

Seat

Got the seat for the Sportster done this weekend. It was a huge learning process but I'm happy with the final product.

Sportster pt. 4

Mounted the oil tank and made a standoff for the oil return and vent lines in order to keep them away from the head pipe. Got the gas tank mounted with a set of pretty standard mounts in the front and a nice clamp in the back. Finally got the exhaust all welded up and cleaned just have to get the heat coat done.

Made some stainless exhaust mounts and an aluminum heat shield that ties the two pipes together as well.

Sportster pt. 3

Got the exhaust pretty much all finished up minus the mounts. Get this, I went to the dealer to see if they had any new fangle rubber mount system I could use...well they didn't but instead they told me to use a rubber muffler hanger for a car. I didn't know weather to laugh or just walk out, so I did both.

Sportster pt. 2

Got some more work done on the Sportster job. Oil tank is finished minus the mounts, bars are in place, fuel tank got a new tunnel and now I just need to make a cap and mount it to the backbone; finish the mid controls and exhaust.

Sportster pt. 1

The only plan for this bike is to make it look good, so it pretty much needs everything replaced.
