Exhausted

I have been going balls to the wall for the past couple weeks, trying to get some serious work done on the bike. I'm waiting for the material to come in so I can machine the V-Band flange for the rear head but I couldn't wait to get to work on the exhaust so I built the front pipe then went to work on something else.

Sportster pt. 4

Mounted the oil tank and made a standoff for the oil return and vent lines in order to keep them away from the head pipe. Got the gas tank mounted with a set of pretty standard mounts in the front and a nice clamp in the back. Finally got the exhaust all welded up and cleaned just have to get the heat coat done.

Made some stainless exhaust mounts and an aluminum heat shield that ties the two pipes together as well.

Got the exhaust pretty much all finished up minus the mounts. Get this, I went to the dealer to see if they had any new fangle rubber mount system I could use...well they didn't but instead they told me to use a rubber muffler hanger for a car. I didn't know weather to laugh or just walk out, so I did both.

First-things-first, machined  ring in the original SUS V-Band flange

Machined this aluminum flange/port extender and put a reverse ring in it's face this fits inside the ring on the other flange.

The flange on top fits inside the exhaust port and centers the V-band while its welded.

If you ride one of these Yamaha Shadows...(I think that's what it is called) I am going to make a one time offer. Bring me your bike for a head back exhaust at 50% off. That's right, to save you embarrassment from riding around on a muffler with wheels. Seriously, this thing looks like an oriental rug rolled up and stuffed onto the end of a couple pipes. So, For $500 do yourself a favor and save your image.

Had to go the the dealer to pick up some parts for the XS fork. This was the best they had to offer.

Got to work on the XS's carburetor, air box and the intake manifold today until we ran out of 90's, unfortunately the supplier doesn't offer 180's in the size we needed so we got seven 90's and this is how far they got us. It'll be finished Wednesday when more material comes in. This bike is shaping up to be one tough looking little machine.

Helped my brother finish up the exhaust system on the XS650.

SUS Exhaust

Helped my brother with the exhaust system for the bike he is working on. We got a good start considering we cut out early and I was bouncing between three other things today.
